At Walks on Water Surf Co., we believe surfing is more than a sport—it's a way to build confidence, resilience, faith, and a deeper appreciation for God's creation.
Based on the beautiful beaches of Isle of Palms, South Carolina, our mission is to provide safe, fun, and professional surf instruction while helping people of all ages experience the joy and freedom of being in the ocean.

About Me
My name is Ryan Lewis, and I've spent my life in and around the ocean. I grew up in Huntington Beach, California—Surf City USA—where surfing became more than a hobby; it became a way of life. Growing up on the coast instilled in me a deep respect for the ocean, a love for adventure, and an appreciation for God's incredible creation.
I am the proud father of a 10-year-old son and a 7-year-old daughter, and much of what I do is driven by a desire to set a positive example for the next generation. For the past 20 years, I have served on active duty in the United States Coast Guard, dedicating my career to protecting our nation's waterways, maritime interests, and coastal communities.
Throughout my Coast Guard career, I have had the privilege of serving as a Certified Coast Guard Instructor and Water Survival Instructor, training and mentoring hundreds of students in leadership, maritime operations, water safety, and survival skills. My experience on and around the water is further supported by certifications in Lifeguarding, First Aid, CPR, and AED. Safety is always my top priority, whether I'm teaching a first-time surfer, helping someone build confidence in the ocean, or developing the next generation of watermen and waterwomen.
Above all, my faith in Jesus Christ is the foundation of my life. At Walks on Water Surf Co., I strive to lead through a Christ-centered approach that emphasizes character, respect, perseverance, humility, and service. My goal is not only to teach surfing but also to help people develop confidence, resilience, and a deeper appreciation for God's creation.
Whether you're stepping on a surfboard for the very first time or looking to improve your skills, my mission is to provide a safe, encouraging, and unforgettable experience in the water while helping you grow both as a surfer and as a person.
From Surf City USA to the shores of Isle of Palms, South Carolina, my passion remains the same: sharing the joy of surfing, building confidence, and helping others experience the beauty of God's creation through the ocean.

Private Lessons
90 minutes • $125
One-on-one instruction tailored to your experience level.
Small Group Lessons
90 minutes • $99 per person
For 2–4 surfers. Learn with friends and family in a fun, safe environment.
Included
All lessons are 90 minutes.
